HEALTH bosses in Worcestershire have confirmed Redditch will be getting its own walk-in Covid-19 testing centre.

This follows a spike in coronavirus cases in the town last month, which public health officials linked to a family gathering.

Redditch MP Rachel Maclean says she has been lobbying Public Health Worcestershire to set-up the testing centre, which will open in two weeks at the Abbey Stadium.

A temporary testing centre was previously opened at the stadium in April for a week.

The MP said: “Following the small spike in cases we saw in Redditch last month, I’ve been lobbying public health officials to set-up a walk-in Covid-19 testing centre in our town.

"I’m pleased to confirm Redditch will be getting this facility. Worcestershire public health officials have told me this walk-in facility will be located at the Abbey Stadium and it will open in around two weeks’ time.

"I’m glad we’re getting this facility as it will make it easier for residents to access testing, helping us to control this virus.”
