POLICE have arrested a 25-year-old man from Studley on suspicion of drink-driving following a head-on crash.

Officers were called to a smash between a Peugeot car and a Scania articulated lorry on the A435 Red Hill, Mappleborough Green, in Studley at 2am this morning (Thursday, August 27).

The location of the collision is described as just past the Boot Inn towards Alcester, before the turn to Alexandra Hospital.

Police said it is believed the driver of the car left the scene with minor injuries. He was later found by officers and allegedly blew twice the legal limit during a breathalyser test.

He was arrested and taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital to be checked over and for further tests.

OPU Warwickshire shared a photograph of the crash on Facebook and Twitter.

They said: “Shockingly this is the aftermath of what happens when you drink and drive.

“This driver collided head-on with a lorry when he lost control of his vehicle.

“He walked away from the scene with minor injuries and made it home.

“However, we caught up with him with our breathalyser - where he blew twice the legal limit. He was arrested and treated for his injuries."

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance to make the vehicles safe.

The A435 was closed for the vehicles to be recovered and for Highways England to remove debris, oil and water to make the road safe.
