A PENSIONER has appeared in court after being accused of assaulting his wife.

David Jones faced the bench at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court after he was charged with assaulting his wife Dorothy Jones.

The 75-year-old’s case was adjourned after his defence solicitor Michael Graham argued any alleged offence should be dealt with by way of police caution.

The defendant, of Steel Street in Askam, is due to return to court on September 9 after the charge is considered by police.
