STUDENTS across Worcester were celebrating their A-Level results yesterday.

RGS Worcester School saw 42% of all grades awarded at A* or A, and 74.2% of all grades were at A* - B, and 91.7% were A*- C grades.

100% of the results in the BTEC National Diploma in Sport were awarded a Distinction or Merit.

The King’s School saw 45% of results graded at A* - A, 73% graded A* - B and 90% of results graded A* - C.

In addition to A level results, Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) results were outstanding with 50% of projects awarded A* grades, 81% A* - A grades and 100% awarded A* - B grades.

Josh Hand, Head of Sixth Form, celebrated the extensive accomplishments made by pupils, adding, “A level results represent only one part of this year’s achievements.

“The students have brought great commitment and enthusiasm to King’s School life whether inside or outside the classroom. Throughout their time in the Sixth Form, on the sports fields, in the school’s theatre whether playing in a musical concert or performing in a drama production, or volunteering within the school community, our students have endeavoured to experience it all.

“They leave King’s with not only impressive results but a broad range of interests and skills to take them into the next stages of their lives.”

Many Worcestershire schools chose not to publish their exam results, on a day which saw more than 40 per cent of pupils given reduced grades across the country.

Neil Morris, headteacher of Christopher Whitehead Language College, said it was "shambolic" and that he was deeply disappointed for all his pupils who had missed out on their first choice university.

Hanley Castle High School has published its results:

Daisy will now complete a summer Latin course before taking up her place at Corpus Christi to read Classics.

Euan Lilly is also celebrating an exceptional set of results.

Euan gained an A* in French and two A grades in economics and mathematics.

He is off to Exeter where he will be studying economics.

Headteacher Lindsey Cooke said; "I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate every Hanley Castle student on their excellent A level results.

"As a school we were extremely disappointed to be unable to provide these results to our students in person and recognise and celebrate their achievements in the normal way.

"However, I am speaking on behalf of all members of staff at the school when I say that we are full of pride that our students have accomplished so much in the face of such a prolonged period of unprecedented challenge."
