Bolton boxer Amir Khan has come under fire for appearing to break lockdown rules by celebrating Eid with his family in his garden.

But the 33-year-old former world champion, who lives in a £1.3m mansion in Heaton, has insisted he's done nothing wrong.

Amir shared pictures on social media on Saturday showing him celebrating Eid with wife Faryal Makhdoom and their three children, along with his brother Haroon and his son, and other family members.

Under the restrictions, which were introduced by the Government on Friday, people are not allowed to meet up with other households in Greater Manchester indoors or in gardens unless they have formed a "support bubble".

Health Secretary Matt Hancock was accused of making the announcement "at the last minute" as it came just hours before the Islamic festival of Eid-Ul-Adha began on Friday.

Posing with his younger brother Haroon, also a professional fighter, and other family members on Saturday, Amir wrote on Instagram: "Eid Mubarak everyone! Spending Eid at home with family."

Asked whether he had broken rules, Amir said: "Not at all, I was at home. Family came over to mine."
