PEOPLE are invited to take a virtual look at the proposals to transform a leisure site into a new Aldi in Alcester.

The discount food retailer is planning on opening up a new store on Birmingham Road, and bosses want members of the community to join a virtual exhibition.

The proposals would see an Aldi food store with 101 car parking spaces built on the Broad Lane Leisure site, creating up to 50 new jobs.

As part of community consultation, Aldi has written to over 2,000 local properties inviting them to attend its virtual public exhibition by visiting the www.aldiconsultation.co.uk/alcester.

The virtual exhibition will run until Tuesday, June 2 and people will be able to view the plans and provide their feedback via an online questionnaire.

Simon Glover, Aldi’s property director said: “We are delighted to announce our plans to open a new Aldi food store in Alcester. With the nearest Aldi stores over four miles away in Studley, and eight miles away in Stratford-upon-Avon, a new store for Alcester will not only mean saving money but travel time too.

“We are excited to bring our award-winning products and fresh produce to the community, improving customer choice and creating much-needed local jobs.

“We want to hear from local people before we submit a planning application to Stratford-on-Avon District Council, and encourage residents to attend our virtual public exhibition and let us know their views on the proposals.”
