Updated: The post reffered to in this story has now been removed.

A spokesperson for Popworld Redditch, said: “A number of our digital posts are planned in advanced and loaded onto a system, which automatically update across our platforms. The post that went live earlier this week has since been removed, in light of rapidly changing daily circumstances. Whilst the business will remain open, we are following advice of Public Health England and the Government. We have implemented social distancing measures, ensuring any tables and chairs are appropriately spaced from each other, and have intensified our cleaning processes across the venue.

“In this current climate, we are taking every precaution necessary, so our venue is operating at reduced capacity and amended trading hours.”

This statement was issued before the Prime Minister announced bars were to close from Friday.

A REDDITCH nightclub is defying critics as well as government advice and has said it will stay open and is "the place to be every single weekend".

Popworld Zinc Redditch has said it will be staying open and giving everyone "the party weekend they deserve" tonight and tomorrow.

It comes as a large number of other venues up and down the country have closed their doors to help fight the spread of coronavirus, which so far has infected thousands and killed more than 130 people.

The government has urged people to stay away to avoid unnecessary social contacts amid the outbreak.

PM Boris Johnson said: "You should avoid pubs, clubs, theatres and other such social venues."

However, posting online, the club said: "We have had to make some small short term changes but the place to be every single weekend will continue to be Popworld & Zinc Redditch.

"These are strange times but our commitment to bringing you the best party every weekend will never cease.

"Join us this weekend and let's have a blast!"

They added: "We are open this weekend. We are still committed to giving those who want it, the party weekend they deserve!

"Join us on Friday night from 11pm, Saturday from 10pm. Free entry until midnight on both nights. Party until 4:30am!!"

The decision has not gone down well with members of the public.

Jane Louise Groves said: "This is stupid thinking about money first. Shows how irresponsible it is of your management. The club gets packed an it could cause a massive out break in redditch town centre.

"If your customers turn up then i just hope they don't pass it to their older family members. The government have said no crowed places for a bloody good reason."

Another reader said: "So why we are being urged to avoid pubs/clubs? Popworld in Redditch think this is acceptable?"

Do you think it should stay open? Will you be at the club this weekend? Let us know.
