PLANS have been put forward for a mental health unit for young people in Webheath.
A planning application has been submitted to Bromsgrove Council to turn the former Saltways Care Home on Church Road into a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Facility.
CAMHS support covers depression, self-harm, abuse, violence or anger, schizophrenia and anxiety, to name a few.

The application, on behalf of Regis Healthcare Ltd, would see three single-storey extensions, a number of minor alterations, and a security fence.
The proposed works will consist of minor internal alterations to the existing building along with two extensions to the main building; one to enlarge the reception area, and a second to facilitate a dual door emergency escape.
An extension to the existing outbuilding is also proposed which would be a school, complete with gym.
The establishment is described as "an inpatient unit" which would be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
A supporting statement says: "The service aims to provide a homely and safe environment for young people with severe and enduring mental health needs through therapeutic, educational, occupational and recreational opportunities and good links with the community facilities and a focus upon rehabilitation and social integration within a continued risk assessment/ management framework."
It added that the young people are encouraged to increase their community presence.
