PATIENTS and carers are being invited to share details of the hospital staff who hold a special place in their hearts and nominate them for an award.

The ‘Patients’ Choice Award’ will recognise a member of nurses, midwives, doctors or other staff from the Alexandra, Kidderminster or Worcestershire Royal Hospitals who have gone the extra mile to provide exceptional levels of care.

The winner will be presented with their award at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust’s Recognition Awards ceremony on July 3, alongside winners in 15 other categories.

Sandra Berry, deputy director of organisational development at the trust, said: “We think our staff and volunteers are amazing - and we know that our patients do too. This is a great opportunity for patients to show their appreciation for a particular member of staff or a volunteer who has gone that extra mile by nominating them for a special award.

“If this sounds like a member of staff or volunteer that you know, we’d love to hear how they have put patients first and gone above and beyond their normal day-to-day duties to make a positive difference to your or your relative's care.”

The Awards take place at Sixways Stadium, the home of Worcester Warriors, on Friday, July 3.

People can nominate their hospital heroes by filling in the form at worcsacute.nhs.uk/hero or look out for Patients’ Choice postcards in wards and outpatient clinics across the hospitals.

Nominations can also be emailed to wah-tr.communications@nhs.net, clearly stating the name of the member of staff and where they work.

The closing date for nominations is Tuesday, March 31.
