CHART-topper Lewis Capalidi dropped into Redditch for curry at the weekend.

The 'Someone you Loved' singer was spotted in Rilys in Alcester Street.

The restaurant posted a picture on their Facebook page with the caption: "A special guest tonight, thank you #lewiscapaldi it was a pleasure meeting you."

The post immediately received several hundred likes.

Many fans were disappointed to have not been there, while others reported that the singing sensation had also popped into a Wetherspoons while he was in town.

Capaldi's hit single 'Someone you Loved' stayed at the top of the UK chart for seven weeks last year and also reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.

This week he is due to kick off a European tour, starting with Cologne, Germany tomorrow.

Rilys, in The Quadrant, Alcester Street, opened in November 2007 and was the winner of the British Curry Awards (Best in the Midlands 2011).

Last year the rapper Stormzy popped into Tesco Redditch to do a spot of shopping.

He later tweeted: "Yes that was me in Redditch Tesco the other day. I was buying my Greek yoghurt"
