A LUCKY resident could scoop up to £25,000 as the Redditch Community Lottery’s inaugural draw is set to take place.

On Saturday, January 18 the first draw will be made.

There’s still time to buy a ticket and support local good causes too.

Tickets cost a pound which gives people a one in 50 chance of winning a prize and which sees 50 per cent of the sale going straight to participating local charities and voluntary organisations.

A further 10 per cent will go to the council’s community pot.

Portfolio-holder for leisure, which covers the lottery, councillor Mike Rouse, said: “As a council we are committed to helping the VCS and currently provide more support than our neighbouring authorities.

“The Community Lottery not only bolsters this support but gives our residents the chance to win a cash prize too. It’s win/win.”

People still have the opportunity to register a good cause and be in the hat to benefit from ticket sales.

Council Leader Matt Dormer added: “We have seen 16 good causes already sign up to the scheme and we would like to see a lot more take part too.

“Good luck Redditch!”

The draw will take place at 8pm on January 18.
