FIREFIGHTERS at Alcester Fire Station have blasted members of the public for parking in front of the station.

Commenting on Facebook they said they have seen numerous cars parking outside the station - blocking vital access in and out.

They said: "We have recently noticed numerous cars parking outside the fire station and police station. It is vital our access and egress is kept clear at all times.

"We need space kept clear at ALL times to ensure rapid response. Parking behind double yellow lines is an offence. Let’s keep Alcester safe!"

Incredulously, after posting the original message, last week, the crew came back from fire safety work in the community to find that the parking had encroached further.

People were quick to comment on the post slamming those responsible saying it could cost lives.

Many said the crew should place tickets or notes on the cars, or simply clamp them.

However, a few more imaginative people suggested some alternative ideas.

Laurie Richards said: "Cut the tops off and the doors and just say sorry as was parked at fire station thought was donated for crash rescue practice."

While Steve Hand said: "Use them as training cars! Set them on fire! Cut the roofs off."
