PUNK rock duo Slaves have cancelled their Warrington show for the second time.

The band were originally due to play this year's Neighbourhood Weekender in May but at the time singer and guitarist Laurie Vincent was awaiting the arrival of his second child and said he did not want to leave his family so close to the birth.

A Warrington gig was instead added to Slaves' December tour with the duo set to play at the Parr Hall this coming Monday.

But it was announced today, Friday, that all the remaining December dates have been cancelled due to singer and guitarist Laurie Vincent's partner needing urgent surgery.

He said: "“Emma has been battling through immensely painful episodes every day for the past three months.

“We hoped this wasn’t a permanent issue and that her symptoms would subside, I thought we would be able to cope and I could get through this tour. However, this week her condition has rapidly deteriorated. At this point, Emma is in constant agony.

"After many failed trips to our GP and A&E we finally sought out specialist medical attention and have been told by doctors she is in need of immediate surgical action and will be having surgery next week.

"I simply cannot leave my family at this time to do this tour. Our amazing team are working on a new plan for 2020 right now, to reschedule dates and make it up to you all.

"Please hold onto those tickets and I promise to give you the shows of our lives next year, once my family is on the mend."

A Parr Hall spokesman said all ticket holders will be contacted by the box office.
