A PERSISTENT thief from Redditch has been jailed after he stole alcohol and headphones from Sainsbury's.

Sam Crawley, of Berkeswell Close, admitted two counts of theft and was sent to prison by Worcestershire magistrates for six weeks.

Crawley, aged 32, committed the offences while serving a suspended sentence for three previous thefts and magistrates ruled he should spend a further eight weeks in jail for those crimes.

Also before Worcestershire magistrates:

David Morgan, aged 42, of Lygan Close, was given a community order to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £320 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Morgan, who denied the charge, was found guilty of carrying a knife with a six inch blade in a public place without good reason.

Elliot Keen, aged 38, of Dixon Close, was fined £500 after he admitted breaching a court order preventing him from going to a specified address in Redditch.

Reece Andrews, aged 23, of Mount Pleasant Road, was ordered to pay £100 compensation and £135 costs after admitting criminal damage to a police cell.

Louise Taylor, aged 50, of Barnwood Close, was given a community order imposing a 12 week curfew between 8pm and 6am and ordered to pay £50 compensation after she admitted assaulting a police constable.

Taylor, who further admitted using threatening words or behaviour and failing to provide a specimen of breath when suspected of driving a vehicle, was also banned from driving for three years.

Dan Gherghinescu, aged 60, of Mount Street, was banned from driving for 20 months, fined £298 and ordered to pay £135 costs and a £32 victim surcharge after he admitted driving with excess alcohol.

Ross Cruickshank, aged 36, from Otter Close, was banned from driving for 42 months, given a community order to carry out 80 hours unpaid work and instructed to pay £135 costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

Cruickshank had pleaded guilty to driving with more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood and driving without an appropriate licence or insurance.

Mark Canapero, aged 48, of Mason Road, was banned from driving for 15 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £135 costs and a £32 victim surcharge after pleading guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

Henry Gardner, aged 37. of Exhall Close, was banned from driving for a year, fined £80 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 after he admitted driving with an excess amount of the controlled drug Benzoylecgonine in his blood.

He was fined a further £40 for failing to comply with supervision requirements following his release from prison.Gardner was banned from the roads for an additional three years and fined £120 after he admitted driving with excess amount of cocaine in his blood.
