A CYCLIST in his 70s has reportedly been taken to hospital following a hit and run.

The male patient had come off his bicycle in Pershore High Street around 3pm today, according to town councillor Val Wood.

Other sources have described the incident as a "hit and run" but put the time at around 4.30pm.

The councillor said she was walking back from the foodbank and saw one ambulance parked up at the scene, with paramedics tending to the man who appeared to have injured his head.

He was then taken to hospital.

"There was an ambulance, it took him off," she said. "He had hurt his head by the looks of it. I didn't see the accident... it had already happened.

"He was on his bike, I don't know the circumstances."

Another witness said they saw two ambulances going past the New Inn pub this afternoon, sometime before 4pm.

The Worcester News has contacted West Midlands Ambulance Service.
