THE course of true love really has run smooth for Redditch Library, after winning Library of the Year at this year’s Romantic Novelists’ Association Industry Awards.

The library only had eyes for Worcestershire as it proudly represented the county as a shortlisted finalist at a recent ceremony in London.

The award recognises the important work that libraries and librarians do in supporting the romantic fiction genre.

Michele Campbell, library manager, said: “It’s simply fantastic that we have won this award, it was a great honour for our library to even be nominated at these awards. I’m really proud of the whole team and our local community for putting Redditch Library on the map.

"Our ‘Romantic Reading Group’ is one of several we host and it’s really lovely that that this particular group has had such a positive impact.”

The library made the original shortlist for the prize after a secret admirer nominated them.

It managed to win the hearts of the judges, triumphing over Harrogate Library, Kingswinford Library, and Jersey Library.

The ceremony was held at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in Central London.

The RNA Industry Awards are presented each year to booksellers, publishers, libraries, literary agents and media stars who champion romantic fiction.
