A FORMER Redditch vicar who quit his job to become an Elvis Presley impersonator is retiring, and performing one last show.

The Rev Andy Kelso, former vicar at Christ Church in Matchborough, ditched his dog collar in 2011 to wear a high collar and jewelled white jump suit - and found himself spread all over the tabloids.

After 25 years as a vicar he said he had a calling from God.

Andy has been going to churches inviting them to put on one of his concerts and invite members of the community along to build bridges between church and community.

He's even sung in Austria, Greece and The Gambia.

He has recorded six CDs and written a book called "A Most Unusual Journey", as well as making a DVD called "Finding Elvis".

Andy will be performing a special farewell concert on Friday, November 29 at South Redditch Social Club from 7pm.

“It’s been an amazing journey,” Andy said.

"To go to so many venues both here in the UK and abroad and meet with so many people. So I hope that people will come along and enjoy this final concert.”

He added: "Now it's time to say goodbye so if you want to be part of a very special evening, then do book the date and your ticket."
