REDDITCH Council, still trying to make amends with the town's voluntary and community groups, is holding an event for those groups to say what is important to them.

The Advertiser reported recently that only following a public outcry Redditch Council made an embarrassing u-turn on plans to cut rent reduction on charity and voluntary organisations in the town.

A number of vital voluntary and community groups said they would face closure after the council said it was looking to stop its rent reduction scheme.

One group, REACH CIC, which provides services to some of Redditch's most disadvantaged people, called the plans "an assault on vulnerable people in Redditch".

Those groups are now being invited to have a say about the support they need to continue to provide services to the borough.

The consultation event is open to all VCS groups which may or may not have benefited from council support in the past, including grants, discounted rents, and contracts.

Redditch Borough Council’s head of housing and community services Judith Willis said: “The council is reviewing the way it provides grants and funding to the VCS.

“It’s vital that we hear from the VCS as part of this and this event is a perfect opportunity for representatives to influence these potential new processes and let us know what is important to them.”

A questionnaire is available for those not able to attend.

Groups wanting to attend the event, on Tuesday, November 26 at 6pm until 8pm at the Town Hall, or just wanting a copy of the questionnaire, or have questions about the event, can email or
