AN Oxfordshire primary school has gone mosaic mad to celebrate turning 50 this year.
Millbrook school in Grove has created three mosaics with the help of David Bowers, artist and owner of the company Mosaic Madness.
The whole school took part, with children and teachers all putting their ideas in to create the artworks.
One mosaic created by Year Six has been placed outside the main entrance and welcomes visitors with the motto ‘believe, achieve, succeed’.
The second is inspired by class logos which are all based on riverside animals such at otters and has been designed using all the children’s ideas.
The third mosaic has the theme of Grove, with nine things pictured about the village including an aeroplane, a Williams F1 racing car and a Grove Rugby Club player.
Teachers said that creating the mosaics had brought the school together and made everyone enthusiastic for the school’s 50th celebrations which also coincide with art week.

The mosaic fun was all made possible by funding from the school’s PTA.
Deputy head teacher Faye Charlton said: “Every single child in the whole school made a significant contribution and each child had their own section of mosaic.
"It’s been fantastic, and it’s all been for our 50th birthday. Parents have been in all week helping and there has been a real buzz.”
The school had a busy week full of mosaic fun and the celebrations will continue with the grand opening and 50th celebrations on Thursday.
Staff, children and teachers are all invited to the school opening which gives everyone a chance to see the new art and music spaces, as well as see the mosaics up around the school.

Headteacher Steven Rose will be giving a talk for the children about the history of the school using pictures and maps of the area to reminisce on the 50 years of Millbrook. Later there will also be African drumming and Year Six will be serving cake and refreshments.
The children and parents of Millbrook primary school have not just been getting creative making mosaics, they have also been making cakes especially for the school's 50th birthday.
The cakes will be entered into a competition and three of the finest will be at the grand opening on Thursday to celebrate Millbrook’s birthday.
Ms Charlton said: “It’s been such a great experience it allowed all the children to work together and get involved, the mosaics will be in school for years to come and all the children have a real scene of pride.
"It’s lovely for the children to see them from a blank canvas to a finished piece from grouting to polishing, they’ve seen it all the way through."
