A SCHOOL celebrated its 150th anniverary in style.

On Midsummer’s night, Elmley Castle First School held a 150th anniversary ball on the cricket field of Elmley Castle.

The village celebrated this momentous date in style, bringing together 250 ex-pupils, staff, parents, grandparents and members of the local community, in a night of celebration.

“We all had a brilliant night, raising over £6000 for the school, which will not only leave a lasting legacy in memory of the 150th anniversary year but means that the school will now be able to upgrade a key area of the school’s external grounds, which will give our children superior outdoor facilities to use and enjoy” said Nadia Underwood, Head of School.

“Thank you all for the fantastic evening on Saturday. Obviously a huge amount of work went into it and the end result was great. A great tribute to our excellent village school. Here’s to the next 150 years” said Pip and Duncan Webster, villagers and ex parents.
