A COMMUNITY get together has been held in a new orchard between Woodrow and Greenlands.

The Advertiser reported earlier this year that a new community orchard was being set up and people were are being asked to help.

In February volunteers from Woodrow and Greenlands Community Orchard planted a number of trees on a patch of land between Woodrow and Greenlands, situated opposite Bengrove Close.

The fruit trees included apple trees with rare species of apple, particular to the Redditch area and until recently were endangered.

A picnic was recently held in the orchard giving people an excellent spot to meet and share ideas.

Ward Councillor Joe Baker described it as a great little set up.

"This is what community is all about and as a local party the Labour party was happy to support and get involved," he said.

"I shall be working with local community activists to see how we can further improve and develop this area."
