AS part of Carers Week people caring for others in Redditch are being urged to turn up to a special drop in event.

On the Wednesday of Carers Week, (June 12) the charity is having a drop-in coffee morning at the Ecumenical Centre, 10am until noon.

People are being invited to come along to see what the charity can do for them.

Fiona Mitchell, chief officer of Carers Careline, said: "The impact of home carers not being able to carry on would be an unmanageable crisis for the government, whoever is in charge. There are 6.5 million unpaid home carers in the UK who cannot be taken for granted.

"Without this unpaid care by friends and family the Health and Social Services would simply collapse."

She added: "A great problem for carers is that they often feel socially isolated and will tell you they have no one to talk to about caring. This where we step in. We connect carers with each other. We offer them drop-ins and coffee mornings, trips and activities, help with difficult forms and phone calls, and give them a monthly telephone call."

For more information about the drop in, call 01527 66177 or email info@carerscareline.co.uk.

People can also visit the office in the Ecumenical Centre between 10am and noon, Monday to Thursday.
