THE Royal Enfield pub in Redditch is set to undergo extensive refurbishment work costing £790,000.

The popular pub, in Unicorn Hill, which first opened as a Wetherspoon in May 2010, is undergoing a refurbishment project, including the addition of a new outdoor area, at the rear of the pub.

A new elevated decking area is being created, on the site of the staff car park.

Accessed via summer opening doors, the area will also have a new access lift.

Inside the pub, which will be completely redecorated, there will be a new colour scheme.

Behind the scenes, new staff facilities will be added, including staff room and changing facilities.

There will also be work carried out to upgrade the bar area.

The pub will remain open as the initial works take place, however, the pub will close for a 12-day period, towards the end of April, for the project to be completed.

Pub manager Gareth Firkin said: “Wetherspoon is spending almost £800,000 on the pub, providing further investment into the town.

“Myself and my team will look forward to welcoming customers back into The Royal Enfield, in May, and we are confident that they will be impressed by the refurbishment of the building and new outdoor facilities.”
