HUNDREDS of shoppers had to be evacuated from the Kingfisher Shopping Centre last night.
A fire alarm went off triggering the mass evacuation.
The incident took place at KFC and was down to an extractor fan that hadn’t been turned on while the ovens were being cleaned, resulting in the fire alarm being set off.
It turned out to be a false alarm and no fire was detected.
A spokesperson at Kingfisher said: “The safety of staff and shoppers is always our first priority and the centre was evacuated as a precaution.
"After investigations to ensure the area was safe the centre re-opened after 25 minutes.
"We apologise to guests for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
