TRIBUTES have been paid to a great-grandmother from Redditch who ran a number of nightclubs, who has died aged 69.

Sheila Goode, described as ‘a truly beautiful soul’, spent 10 years running nightclubs in Worcester and owned Gonzos which then became Evolution on Lowesmoor.

Ms Goode, died on December 13 after suffering with dementia for several years.

Her granddaughter, Nyssa Fox, is hoping that family and friends will come together tomorrow (Friday) at 2pm at The Bridge in Tibberton, near Droitwich, to celebrate her life and share their memories.

Mrs Fox said: “My grandma was so much more than a grandma. She was a great-grandma, a mother and a friend – she was a truly beautiful soul. It’s down to her that I’m the woman I am today.

“She was always the ‘cool’ grandma who loved all the bands that me and my friends were in to, so all of my friends loved her. She was firm in her morals too and that will stay with all of us.

“For the 10 years she ran the clubs Worcester club-goers grew to know her as ‘mum’ and her loving, nurturing nature spread throughout the city.”

Mrs Fox said it was incredibly difficult to watch Ms Goode's decline as the disease took hold, but some of her final moments were spent with Mrs Fox’s son, Logan.

“We will all miss her," said Nyssa.

"I’m sad that my son won’t know her like I did but I know that she impacted lives and she will forever be mum to more than a few.

"This cruel disease took over her last years but our memories and her legacy as the kind-hearted loving soul she was will define her life, and not the illness.

Chris Bennion also paid tribute to Ms Goode on Facebook.

He said: “I remember being a regular at Gonzos and Evolution, I put on a few gigs there.

"I always remember Sheila sitting in the ticket booth, welcoming everyone with a smile and cheery chat.

"She was the first friendly face you would see as you arrived and always said goodbye when you left.”
