A GROUP of youths has attacked a police car in Redditch, jumping up and down on the roof.

Officers were on foot patrol in the Woodrow Centre and left the marked police car parked in Woodrow Centre car park.

PC Daniel Icke from West Mercia Police said: "Officers were dealing with something close to the Woodrow Centre and had left their patrol car in the car park when they received a call from a member of the public saying a group of young people were jumping up and down on the car's roof.

"Not only is this violence mindless it is also criminal and comes at great cost to the taxpayer.

"It means a police vehicle normally available for officers to support their community could be taken off the road while being repaired.

Police asked anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch via 101 or calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
