TO celebrate its 45th anniversary, The Alcester Male Voice Choir will be holding a special service of thanksgiving later this month.

The service, at St Nicholas Church in Alcester, will follow a different format from traditional church services, but will be led by the Rev Adrian Gutherie, and the choir's founder and director of music Judith Land, together with members of the choir.

The choir will also be leading the congregation in the hymn singing as well as performing several items.

Judith said: "There have been many memorable milestones over the years and the choir has appeared at some of the most prestigious venues in the country as well as maintaining a regular programme of local concerts helping raising funds for a variety of charities and organisations.

"I felt that after 45 years it was time to share both the choir's success and appreciation through a special church service with our supporters and the local community."

She added: "We are a choir family and we work hard together and will continue to do so in the future.

"But to do that we need the support of not only the choir members and the music team, but of their families, friends and the wider community at all levels. That support has always been there and we are grateful for it.

"We see this thanksgiving service as a way of bringing everyone together to celebrate another milestone, all are welcome and we look forward to seeing a packed church to help us mark a very special occasion."

The service is on January 20 starting at 3pm.
