AN Alcester student was recently given the stamp of approval after he received the Warwickshire Student Librarian of the Year Award 2019.

The honour went to St Benedict’s student Ethan Holliday for his hard work in the school library and personal development as a team leader.

The Alcester-based school laid on a special presentation attended by representatives of Warwickshire School Library Service, a team of student librarians and all the staff associated with St Benedict’s library.

The award left Ethan, who lives locally, feeling happy to know that all the team’s efforts had paid off.

"I’ve learnt a lot of skills volunteering for this role and it has given me a sense of pride,” said the Year 10 pupil.

“The judges were looking for someone who takes the role seriously, can motivate others, come up with good activity ideas and is always helpful."

Senior librarian, Tina O’Toole, who nominated Ethan, said: “He had to produce a large quantity of work and evidence for his application. Not only is he enthusiastic, Ethan is an excellent role model and promotes the services of the library on a daily basis."
