AFTER Storm Deirdre brought freezing rain and ice to York and North Yorkshire this weekend - things are looking quieter for the week ahead.
North Yorkshire Police issued a "Don't travel" warning for the whole of the county on Saturday night, forcing many people to put festive plans on hold.
An amber weather warning was in force as the unusual weather conditions created black ice.
However, the Met Office is predicting far more stable weather in the days ahead.
It said the weather on Sunday night would remain cloudy with rain spreading east during the evening, before gradually becoming dry and cold in the second half of the night, with clear spells developing.
A patchy frost and areas of mist or shallow fog will form by dawn. The minimum temperature will be 0 °C.
Monday will have a dry, bright and chilly start, with mist soon clearing to leave a dry day with sunny spells, though turning cloudier and breezier through the afternoon, with rain arriving later. The maximum temperature will be 6 °C.
The Met Office says Tuesday will be cloudy and windy with outbreaks of rain, but milder than recent days. Wednesday is set to be brighter, colder and less windy, with occasional showers. Thursday should be bright with isolated showers and light winds.
