A SPECIAL memorial event was recently held at a Redditch care home in honour of one of its residents.

Doreen Cross was a resident of Terryspring Court for 13 years and was an ‘ambassador’ always helping with fundraising and anything else to help fellow residents and the home in general.

She was the founder of The Oldertones, a choir which travelled to various venues in the community entertaining whenever possible.

She accumulated funds from the choir, which relied on donations to fund travelling expenses and outfits.

Redditch Advertiser:

When she passed away the choir disbanded due to diminished numbers so the money left in the choir account was used to organise the event, somehting for all the residents to enjoy.

Brenda Delahaye, Doreen's daughter, said she was delighted the money could be spent on the event.

"The staff at Terryspring worked very hard organising the event with the Primrose Choir entertaining, plus a lovely buffet for all residents and guests," she said.

"It was a fantastic day which everyone enjoyed."

Two plaques were also unveiled, one in memory of Doreen, on benches in the home's garden.
