A COMEDY/horror film created and filmed in Redditch and Alcester is getting an official release on DVD - just in time for Halloween.

The Snarling, featuring a number of star names from film and television, sees a small village pub and some of its locals become involved with a zombie horror movie that is being shot in their village... but something else is happening, something that is not in the script.

It stars Joel Beckett from Eastenders and The Office fame, Chris Simmons from Casualty, and Julie Peasgood.

There is also a special appearance from former Midlands Today newsreader Ashley Blake, as a newsreader.

The film, written in January 2014 by Studley-based actor and writer Pablo Raybould, has had a number of screenings including a star-studded event at Bromsgrove's Artrix and a screening at London’s Leicester Square. It will now be available to take home from October 29.

Mr Raybould, who also stars in the film, said: "After a lot of hard work and, not one, but two distributors later – we have an imminent release date.

"Left Films (UK and NI) and Wild Eye (USA/Rest of World) are set to release the film on October 29.

"They have designed entirely new DVD artwork and it has been available to pre-order on Amazon for some time now and has not been out of the Amazon top 30 since the announcement."

He added: "There have been many on-line reviews and most have been incredibly glowing with quotes such as ‘cult classic’ and many comparing it to ‘Shaun Of The Dead’."

The film will be available from HMV and Zaavi as well as other retailers.

Mr Raybould said he has also been invited to take to the stage at the prestigious London Comic Con next week to be interviewed and the film will be screened as part of the Festival of Terror at Digbeth’s Mockingbird Cinema at the Custard Factory on November 1 at 9pm.
