TOP two Droitwich Spa and Worcester Raiders are ready for a battle royale after continuing their winning runs at the weekend.

They will face off in West Midlands League Division One on Saturday at Stourport’s Walshes Meadow (3pm) off the back of big victories.

Second-placed Raiders thumped mid-table Newport Town 5-1 at Claines Lane with a clinical display to make it nine games unbeaten including eight consecutive wins.

Anthony Smith, Matt Andrews, Paul Smith and a Roland Krol double secured victory for Raiders with the latter now scoring seven goals in the last six fixtures.

The city side have only suffered one defeat all season.

Leaders Spa also have only one league defeat and are undefeated in nine matches.

They won 3-0 at eighth-placed Allscott on Saturday, racing ahead after only three minutes.

A passing move culminated in Jack Davies threading a through-ball to James Lemon who turned and finished well past onrushing keeper Dan Pilkington.

Davies, Ben Tilbury and Lemon all had missed opportunities as Pilkington kept the hosts in the game.

The Saltmen doubled their advantage midway through the half as Davies’ low drive was parried into the path of Tilbury who tapped home from close range.

More chances came and went for Droitwich before the break but they were in control and looked to add to the lead in the second period.

Davies, Haydn Morris, Lemon and Tilbury were all denied by Pilkington.

Spa eventually netted their third on the hour when Morris fed Lemon whose close control and lay-off set up Tilbury.

The recent signing took a touch out of his feet to place a shot into the bottom corner via a deflection.

Bromyard Town, who are 13th, lost 3-2 at top-half team Wyrley in the same division.

In Premier Division fixtures on Tuesday, Bewdley Town host Haughmond and Pegasus Juniors entertain Wednesfield (both 7.45pm).
