HEARTBROKEN family and friends are rallying together to give stabbing victim Christopher Harm "the send off he deserves".

The father, from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, died on a car park in Engine Lane, Brierley Hill, from a single stab wound at around 1am on Saturday morning (October 13).

Glen Elvin, aged 25 of Fern Avenue, County Durham, will appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court today (Wednesday) charged with Christopher's murder.

The 25-year-old's family said his death had left them "in pieces forever" in a statement released by West Midlands Police.

It described Christopher, known to those close to him as 'Chrissy' as "a loving son, dad and brother gone so tragically and a family left in pieces forever."

Floral tributes were left at the scene by his devastated parents who said they had "no words" to describe losing their "handsome boy".

"We have lost our loving, caring son, we will miss you so much. Sleep tight our handsome boy, we love you so very much."

A touching poem was also left on behalf of his young son.

Devastated friends have launched a crowdfunding page and organised fundraising events to for funerals costs and to pay for his body to be returned to his parents in Newcastle.

Generous donors to the page have already smashed the £2,000 target to "give Chrissy the send off he deserves" raising over £3,000 in less than 48 hours.

Carly Lockhart, who set up the page, wrote: "Tragically Christopher was taken from his family and friends in the early hours of Saturday morning.

"On top of the heartache, shock and devastation, Chrissy's family now have to pay to get him brought back from Birmingham.

"We have set this page up to help with costs towards this and his funeral."

Messages of condolence have been left by fundraisers with one friend writing "R.I.P (little chrissy) thinking of your friends and family at this horrific time!! So, so sad!! Your gonna b a huge miss to a lot of people! Thinking of use all".

Another called Christopher a "nice, respectful gent' while a third friend added "RIP Chrissy, we’ll never forget that cheeky smile! Sending all our love to the Harm family at this heartbreaking time."

Following his death, three men aged 30, 27 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into police custody for questioning.

Two of the men were released with no further questioning.

Police carried out house-to-house enquiries in the area and a cordon was placed around the car park.

Detective Inspector Harry Harrison, from Force CID, said: "We continue to try and establish the circumstances around the sad death of this man.

"We still need anyone who has any information about what happened to come forward and talk to us.

"Christopher’s family are distraught. This is a very difficult time for them, we need to help them understand what happened and bring those responsible to justice."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting log number 145 of 13 October.
