REDDITCH rock band Page 44 are hoping to find chart success as they release their first single, With or Without Your Help.

The band, who describe their music as "energetic pop rock," are being touted as the next big thing after appearing on Popworld when their song The Grey Room came top of the TV show's download chart.

The world of online promotion seems to suit Page 44, who are one of the biggest unsigned bands on networking site MySpace.

Lead singer Adam Vygus is hoping that will be enough to boost their chart sales.

He said: "We've got something like 41,000 friends on MySpace. If they all bought the single we'd be number one."

The boys base a lot of their reputation on live performances and came second in the Emergenza Battle of the Bands last year, winning the chance to play London's Astoria.

Now they're one of four finalists for Carling Support, a contest which could see them become the regular support act at the Carling Academy in Birmingham, which would be a personal victory for the band.

Adam added: "We have all grown up watching bands play on the stage at the Academy so that would be a really nice thing to win."

The single is due to be released as a download only on iTunes from mid-October but is now available on pre-sale from www.dittomusic.net For more information on Page 44, visit www.myspace.com/page44.
