AFTER the success of her debut novel a Redditch author will be holding a special reading and book signing to celebrate the launch of her second book.

Carla Buckley, who writes under the name Carla Kovach, recently signed a three-book deal with London-based publishers Bookouture.

She has already released the first in a trilogy of books about detective Gina Harte, called The Next Girl, which received rave reviews and reached number one in the UK, Australia and New Zealand iBook charts, number two in iBooks USA and number 23 in the UK Amazon Charts.

Last week she released the second instalment, Her Final Hour.

The book has been described as an absorbing thriller with "an ending you won’t see coming" perfect for fans of Lisa Gardner, Robert Bryndza or Clare Mackintosh.

And to celebrate the release the author will be at Redditch Library tomorrow from 2.30pm.

"I thoroughly enjoyed writing Her Final Hour," said Carla.

"It was a dream of a book to write.

"Once I'd come up with the concept, building the story and characters around it felt as comfortable as being at home, in comfy slippers whilst holding a cup of cocoa. Okay, that's an exaggeration!

"Writing books is a pleasurable activity and I never take a day for granted now that I do this as a job. It's stressful, it's challenging, everyday is varied and sometimes I feel like tearing my hair out. But if asked in a serious tone, I have to say, I love being an author."

The author, who gave up a job in accounts to focus on writing, added: "Right now, I'm putting the final flourishes on book three in the series before pinging it over to my publishers. The third in the series will be out in January 2019."

For more information or to quiz Carla, she will be at the library on Saturday, September 1 performing a reading and following that a book signing.

Her Final Hour is available is available through iBooks, Kobo and Google Play or if people prefer the paperback, it is available to purchase on Amazon or it can be ordered through Waterstones or WH Smith.
