A BROMSGROVE-based society will be on the High Street to encourage residents to get involved with art of all kinds.

Lickey Hills Art Society will have a market stall on Saturday, September 8, between 9am and 4.30pm.

There will be demonstrations by local artists and the opportunity for children to be creative and paint a rock the Bromsgrove Rocks trend.

The society will also be selling original paintings, artists’ greeting cards and various other items.

All proceeds raised will go towards funding the society which has been running for over 30 years.

Jennie Wilson from Lickey Hills Art Society said: “We run a varied programme of demonstrations and exhibitions delivered by experienced and talented artists covering many styles and mediums.

"The current membership ranges from those with an interest in art to experienced artists and although we do not hold organised lessons, beginners will find the more experienced members are always willing to provide tips and support."

Lickey Hills Art Society is being supported by Bromsgrove District Council to run the market stall as part of an Arts Development Service initiative.

The society is open to anyone to join and the group meets on the first Saturday of every month at 7.30pm at Longbridge Methodist Church, Bristol Road South, Longbridge, B45 9TY.
