CHURCHES across Redditch and Bromsgrove are coming together to promote dementia awareness across the communities they serve.
'Dementia Friends Training', accredited by the Alzheimer’s Society, is being run on Tuesday, February 27, at The Lodge, Burcot Grange, near Blackwell in Bromsgrove.
Wychebrook Group of Churches are promoting the event, at the dedicated dementia care home, to residents across its Bromsgrove and Redditch churches.
Rev Gary Crellin from the Wychebrook Group of Churches, one of the organisers, said: “Having worked previously in the NHS and developed services for people with a dementia, I am aware of how anxious people are of the mere mention of the 'd' word.
"One way to tackle this is to be informed and supported. That’s what these sessions plan to do. They are open to all in our communities. Please come and learn more!”
Two sessions are planned for February 27 between 2-4pm and again at 7-9pm. To attend the sessions, contact June Crofts on 01527 832913
Rev Gary added: “These are free and popular sessions - fun and interactive.
"Let’s work together to reduce the stigma associated with such a difficult set of diseases by find out more and learning how to cope and what support is out there to help."
