ALCESTER is gearing up to host its annual St Nicholas Night celebrations.

The event, which is held on December 6, begins at 5.45pm with the St Nicholas Night opening, before finishing with a fireworks extravaganza at 8.30pm.

In between residents can enjoy music at 6pm, a parade of the Boy Bishop at 7pm, the Alcester Victoria Silver Band at 7.30pm, and White Hart Morris Men at 8pm.

The evening will also be followed by a compline service at St Nicholas Church.

Children from St Nicolas School will again play the parts of the Boy Bishop and attendants.

Rev Adrian Guthrie, Rector of Alcester Minister, said: "It promises to be a great spectacle again, including classic vehicles, town groups and of course, the Boy Bishop."

The event, along Alcester’s High Street, will be opened by former British Rally Champion Russell Brookes.
