DECLAN Gwin finishes racing in BriSCA National Ministox this weekend and moves into V8 Hotstox.
After turning 16 on Monday, the Chantry School pupil from Hallow will be too old for Ministox.
On following his father Jason into racing four years ago, Gwin has improved rapidly in the last six months to earn red top status, one off the best ratings available.
In his first meeting this season at Coventry, he was second in the championship race and fourth in the final.
Gwin previously secured his first win last Christmas.
He admitted: “I’d finally found my inner racing confidence. From then on, I couldn’t be stopped. At the first grading period, I had made it up to red top.
“This has been my greatest racing moment and will stay with me throughout my career.”
He signs off at Birmingham today and Hednesford tomorrow before moving into V8.
Driving runs in the family with sister Chloe, 17, looking to race again after retiring from Ministox two years ago.
