FOR students studying A-levels in Alcester, the anxious wait was finally over as they ripped open the envelopes containing the key to their futures.
At Alcester Grammar School, 65 per cent of entries were graded A* to B and 43 pupils achieved at least three A grades with six students receiving the results needed to take up their Oxbridge offers.
Top performers Ella Godfrey, Caitlin Harvey, Barney Fidler and Emma Simkin are heading to Cambridge and Ed Gough and Verity Wynn will be attending Oxford University.
School principal Clive Sentance said: “At a time when the exam regime is tightening and the standards needed for top grades are rising, these results are very pleasing and thoroughly deserved.
“Our students have put in a great deal of effort to make the most of their talents and our superb staff team have worked tirelessly to support them.
“The sixth form team, ably led by vice-principal Ian Young, are particularly strong and have made sure that their students have experienced a lot of fun and friendship too.
“I’m very proud of everyone associated with our sixth form.”
