A GREAT-GRANDMOTHER from Redditch will mark her 100th Birthday on Thursday, December 4.
Vera Wright, from Webheath, plans to celebrate the occasion in style with a small party being held at the Foxlydiate Arms on the day followed by an afternoon tea themed party at the Southcrest Manor Hotel on Saturday, December 6.
In her youth, Vera attended Mrs Wrights’ Private School in Redditch before marrying her first husband, Bernard Box in Tardebigge when she was 21.
Vera had three children, Jennifer, Veronica and Andrew. Jennifer sadly passed away when she was 37.
She was widowed at 61 and seven years after her husband’s death she then married Edward Wright.
He died when Vera was 82.
Vera, who enjoys crosswords and gardening, used to take holidays to Canada and Italy and worked in a local shop.
Speaking before the occasion, her daughter Veronica said her mother was very much looking forward to the celebrations.
She is also anticipating a letter from The Queen.
Vera has eight grandchildren and a staggering 23 great-grandchildren.
