A YOUNG dancer from Redditch will be heading to Glasgow with RDC Youth dance group to perform at a prestigious dance festival in advance of the Commonwealth Games.

Amber Warman, 16, will be performing at the first Commonwealth Youth Dance Festival in Glasgow, running from July 10 to 12.

RDC Youth is one of only 18 UK groups to be picked and will take part with groups from New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Namibia, Wales and Scotland.

The festival will celebrate the city's hosting of the Commonwealth Games - A Get Scotland Dancing Commission as part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme.

Amber has been dancing since an early age and is currently studying Advanced 1 Ballet at the Siobhan Collins-McCarthy Dance School as well as tap, jazz, street, commercial and contemporary.

After Glasgow Amber and the dance group will be performing at the Crescent Theatre in Birmingham on July 20 as part of Bham Fest 2014.

Adam Rutherford, from RDC Youth, said: "I'm extremely proud of all the young dancers who enthusiastically travel from across the Midlands to rehearse and perform with RDC Youth.

"We look forward to representing Birmingham and its youth dance scene at this international youth dance festival.

"It truly is an exciting time for all involved in RDC Youth."
