FLUSTERED residents who can’t find a parking space in the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping are reminded that they can park for free in the Trafford Car Park.
The Trafford Car Park, which is used by council officers in the day time, is open and free to residents after 5pm and at weekends.
The car park is situated on Trescott Road opposite Trafford Retail Park and is within easy walking distance of the town centre and Kingfisher Shopping Centre, which usually charge for the use of their private car parks.
Councillor Greg Chance, whose portfolio covers economic development and local transport, said: “The council are doing their bit for the local economy by providing free parking for shoppers and I would encourage everyone to take advantage of this.
“I’ve witnessed people queuing right across the island to get into Trafford Retail Park when there are no spaces. There really is no need to drive around or queue for hours, especially at this time of the year when it gets particularly busy. Just turn left instead of right!”
