A BELLY dance teacher from Redditch knew all the right moves to raise money for a fantstic cause.
Emma Wheate-Price holds an event known as a hafla twice a year, where performers come together to dance, enjoy a shared buffet and hold a raffle, with all the money raised being donated to a chosen charity.
On November 16, a hafla was held at Bridley Moor & Batchley Social Club in aid of Redditch Heart Safe, after Ms Wheate-Price heard about the cause and what its aims are.
The charity was started by Robert and Maggie Underwood in memory of their daughter Charlotte Marie, who died in 2010, aged just 16, from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS).
Since then, her parents have worked tirelessly to raise awareness of cardiac issues and to raise money to install life-saving defibrillators in every Redditch school.
Ms Wheate-Price: "We were thrilled to have Maggie Underwood at the hafla, and delighted that through ticket sales, a raffle and a collection bucket we raised £701 for Redditch Heart Safe."
A Heart Safe spokesman said: "We would like to thank Emma Wheate-Price and everyone that attended the hafla and kindly gave up their time and money to raise much-needed funds.
"It was a fantastic night with so many belly dancers from different clubs around the county. The fantastic amount of £701 which was raised on the evening has part-funded a defibrillator for Tardebigge First School. We can't thank you all enough."
