POLICE are appealing for people to come forward after an assault at a Redditch pub left a man requiring hospital treatment.

It happened at the Sportsmans Arms in Peakman Street, at about 9.30pm on Wednesday, July 31.

The victim, a 49-year-old man, was talking with friends when he was approached by another man and punched in the face. He suffered cuts which required treatment at the Alexandra Hospital.

PC Vikki Loftus, who is investigating, said: “Nothing was said during the assault but it is believed this may have been linked to a heated discussion which took place earlier in the evening during a darts match at the pub.

“That had finished and all the players had gone to the bar area when the attack took place.

“The victim has suffered a nasty injury and as there were plenty of people there at the time we would really appreciate hearing from anyone who witnessed the attack or has any information about what happened.”

PC Loftus can be contacted on 101, quoting incident reference 419-S-010813.

Details may also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
