WITNESSES and information are being sought after a man was robbed soon after arriving back at his home in Redditch.

It happened at 6am on Sunday, August 4, minutes after the victim, a man in his 60s, had driven back to Foxcote Close in Winyates.

He answered the door to a man who said he needed help and moments later two other men burst in, knocking him to the floor. He suffered cuts and bruising to his face and body and was later treated in hospital.

The robbers took cash from his pockets along with his wallet containing bank cards before leaving the scene in a VW Golf driven by a fourth man.

A car matching that description has since been seized by police who have arrested two Birmingham men in connection with the incident, one aged 26 and the other aged 28. After questioning they were released on police bail until September 12.

Detective Constable Matt Archer of Redditch CID said: “This was a nasty attack and although the victim was released from hospital he still requires further treatment. We have spoken to some witnesses but we still urgently want to hear from anyone living in or around Foxcote Close who may have seen the offenders there or the car they were using. And if anyone else has information which they think could help our investigation then please get in touch.”

Anyone with information should call Det Con Archer at Redditch Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the incident reference 77-N-040813, or details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
