A GRANDFATHER will be taking part in this year’s Great North Run to raise cash for local charity Acorns Children’s Hospice.
64-year-old George Nicholson, who will be running through Redditch this Saturday (his 65th birthday) as part of his training, will be taking part in the run on September 15.
It will be his 33rd Great North Run.
He said: “I have deeply, personal reasons for supporting Acorns.
“The charity provided wonderful care and support for our granddaughter, Emily Hart, and family a few years ago. It is something we will never forget.”
He Added: “It is a most wonderful charity which provides vital care in an excellent way throughout the West Midlands.”
Acorns Children’s Hospice, based in Wythall, aims to help provide palliative care to the 2,000 plus life limited children in the region living with life limiting or threatening conditions.
Laura Heathfield, from Acorns, said: “George’s passion and commitment for supporting the Acorns cause is inspiring and we are very grateful for all he is doing for us.”
