POLICE want help to identify two men who robbed a woman of cash and her mobile phone in Redditch.

The 27-year-old woman had just walked under the railway bridge in Hewell Road between 4.30pm and 6pm on Wednesday, July 31, when she was shoved from behind and fell over.

She was then threatened by two men who demanded property and handed over her mobile phone, a purse, and £30 in cash from her pockets before they walked off towards Batchley. The woman suffered grazing to her hands but did not need medical treatment.

One of the robbers was wearing a grey hooded top and dark coloured tracksuit bottoms and the other was wearing a black jacket with dark jeans or tracksuit bottoms.

A man was subsequently arrested in connection with the offence and after questioning he was released on police bail until September 13 pending further inquiries.

Detective Sergeant Ed Slough of Redditch CID said: “This happened in broad daylight and we want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the relevant time who might have seen these men hanging around there and can help us to identify them or has any other information that might be useful to us.”

Details can be passed to Det Sgt Slough at Redditch CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident reference 380-S-310713, or the independent charity Crimestoppers  anonymously on 0800 555 111.
