ONE of the country's most senior judges will be called to deal with a Worcestershire couple charged with causing the death of their baby daughter, a court has heard.

Tyler Vallance and Jessica Wiggins are accused of killing their two-month-old daughter Isabella Vallance last year.

Isabella was taken to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch after being injured at a house in the town on December 7, before being transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital. She died five days later.

Vallance, aged 20, who currently resides in prison is charged with murder, while Wiggins, 19, of Engadine Road, The Oakalls, in Bromsgrove, is accused of causing or allowing the death of a child.

They are both also charged with ill treatment or neglect of a child between November 5 and December 7 last year.

Judge Robert Juckes told Worcester Crown court that due to the seriousness of the accusations, a High Court Judge would be needed to hear the case.

The hearing was adjourned until later this year while enquires are made over when the senior judges are available.

Vallance was remanded in custody and Wiggins was released on conditional bail until the next court date.
