THE new mental health unit at Bromsgrove will have a stylish piece of artwork thanks to pupils at Birchensale Middle School.

Pupils at the school recently worked with artist Caroline Jariwala to create a mosaic which will go on display at the unit, which opened last month.

New Haven, based at Bromsgrove's Princess of Wales Community Hospital, has undergone a £7million revamp.

It now features an outpatients department, therapy areas and 30 ensuite inpatient bedrooms, primarily for older people with mental health problems.

The unit has links with the school, for art and craft schemes.

A Birchensale spokesman said: “Gifted and talented pupils from key stage 2 and 3 were chosen to work with Caroline.

“This proved to be a truly unique experience. Our pupils were really inspired to see a talented mosaic artist at work and rose to the challenge of creating a stunning mosaic artwork of their own.”
